When you stay at the Lantern Inn you are treated as family. The rooms are very comfortable. We have been staying there for years and look forward to many more. Park outside your door makes it easy on carrying in luggage. Charlie and Janet make you feel right at home. The Inn is right in the heart of the Black Hills. Downtown is within walking distance yet far enough away that you don't have the feel of staying in town. The rates are easy on your pocket book too. When we go to the black hills we stay with friends,( Charley and Janet) at the lantern Inn. When your there your at home.

This is the place to be when you're visiting the Black Hills of South Dakota. Charley and Janet treat you like you're family, really nice people. The place is very clean and it is located right in the heart of everything that is to explore, especially when you're travelling with bikes (lovely to ride without a helmet trough the hills of the Black Hills: the round trip in Custer State Park, the round trip to Mount Rushmore...). We have visited the USA more then 25 times so far (from the Netherlands) this is still our favorite spot.

They have become like family.... not the kind of family that you have to put up w/ but the kind of family that you can't wait to get back and see. The place is very clean, clean, clean, and it is located right in the heart of everything that is exciteing and entertaining. They definately go the extra mile for their guests whom they treat as family also. Of all our travels this is our favorite spot.

We stayed here, with two adults and 5 kids. LOVED it!! had a very clean room with a kitchenette. the owners set up a cot for the extra child. Coffee, juice, and donuts for breakfast. They were just shutting the pool down for the season, but left it open one more day for our kids.

I am at a loss of words. Our vacation in the Black Hills was great. Our stay at the Lantern Inn was a big part of it. My 10 yr old son said it was like staying at Grandmas. My 13 yr old wants to go back next year. I have never been treated better. This is a great big thumb in the nose to all those "Big Box" chains. The Lantern Inn is a step back in time to a place where you are a name and not a number. A Big thank-you to the owners Charlie & Janet. The beds were very comfortable (better than mine). The whole place was clean and well taken care of. Centrally located to all of the Black Hills. Our next trip will definitely include time at the Lantern Inn.
